The lands
Farmland weather for your tabletop campaign
Gentle, green country of fields, hedgerows and mills. Mild and often damp, rarely harsh, with spring storms and summer hail to keep a harvest anxious.
Through the year

Averages from a year of Skyscribe's weather in typical farm country. You can set how high, how far from the sea and how far from the equator it lies, and the weather follows.
How it sounds at the table
A few days from that year, as Skyscribe describes them to read to your players. No two days read the same.
Mottled like a pigeon's wing, the sky lets the sun through when it pleases over the hedgerows and fields. Bright cold reddens every nose in sight, and a gentle northwest breeze lifts the edge of a hood. The road is frozen into ridges, and wheels skid on the icy patches.
A buckle breaks, a strap frays and somebody has a blister, all under a sky without a cloud to blame. The wind comes in uneasy fits through the day, and the old folk rub their joints and look at the sky.
The sort of rain that nobody notices until they are soaked drifts over the rolling hills, and the moss on every wall looks greener by the hour. Everything from the bread to the bedding feels faintly damp, with a smart southwest breeze flapping cloaks.
What to watch for
The hazards that come with farm country. When the weather makes one likely, Skyscribe shows the risk and lets you roll to see whether it strikes.
- Damaging hail
- Tornado
- Sinkhole
- Wildfire
- Wells and streams run dry
- Locust swarm
Villages and cities
Put the party in a village or a city and the scene and the writing move into the streets, styled to suit farm country.

The sundial on the inn wall keeps good time today, for a change, and hands stay deep in pockets. The shade stays cold while sunny walls make the best seats, and a quiet breeze drifts out of the north. A miller's cart dusted white with flour stops outside the bakehouse, followed by a cloud of pigeons.
Rare sights
Keep an eye on the scenery. Now and then something unusual turns up in the picture, and a few sights are rare enough that most players will never see them.
